Description
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will provide various elements of support and process structure to the Operations Teams. The primary focus will be on, but not limited to; continuous improvement activities, quality initiatives, product attribute analysis, and other manufacturing structures, process, and tests that allow for Arden Companies to produce the best products in the market.
The Manufacturing Engineer will support the plant teams, but also play a key role in supporting Product Development initiatives and new approaches to the companies’ manufacturing processes and structures. This position requires a passion for learning and an openness to new ideas and their implementation. Thinking outside the box is a must and creativity is encouraged. The Manufacturing Engineer will have the manufacturing plant at his/her fingertips for both knowledge transfer and ideation.
Responsibilities
- Lead problem solving activities and continuous improvement efforts as it relates to customer satisfaction and quality improvement.
- Develop and maintain operator work instructions.
- Support and actively participate in the process for new product launch.
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for internal focused inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Provide support for Customer focused inspection, testing, and evaluation in collaboration with the Senior Product Development Engineer
- Maintain an awareness of product quality improvement opportunities and is evaluate potential solutions/ideas.
- As part of a Continuous Improvement program, identify areas for automation and provide guidance, sourcing, ROI on potential equipment modifications or purchases.
- Collaborate with plants on internal audits as well as supplier audits and development plans where necessary.
- Maintain and manage extensive network of resources (quality, lab, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
- Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor.
- Participate in, lead, facilitate, and communicate production continuous improvements through Lean Initiatives such as, Kaizen, Value Analysis, Kanban, Error Proofing, Problem Solving, Standardized Work, and other such activities.
- Drive corrective action process for the production team, including the creation of action plans and ensuring effective resolution to key production team projects and quality issues.
- Seek and implement cost reduction and cost avoidance plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Problem-solving and attention to detail
- Experience working on a cross functional team
- Certifications preferred in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management e.g. American Society for Quality-ASQ certification(s): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)
