Description

This is not your typical Network/Systems Engineering job – we need an engineer/developer: must love technology, system automation, and designing resilient systems which support business operations!

Our team is responsible for both the design and implementation of network and system architectures and their ongoing operational health – this provides us with a crucial view into how our work impacts all aspects of the company.

Responsibilities

    

    Network

    
    o Manage and maintain core network infrastructure including a multi-site WAN topology.
    o Design and implement Edge and wireless network design and implementation across our domestic facilities.
    o Manage and construct isolated networks for secure systems, administration portals, and cyber physical systems.
    o Investigation of IPv6 network design and eventual transition plan.
    

    Systems

    
    o Manage the deployment and automation of network services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, and RADIUS.
    o Select and implement a centralized performance monitoring system for evaluating traffic flow, identifying performance bottlenecks, and planning for network growth.
    o Maintain automation for alerting and monitoring systems throughout the Arden internal network.

    

 

Must Have – Required



    

    Degree Requirements

    
    o Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related discipline.
    o Some education with strong practical experience would be considered.

  • Development
    o Familiarity and interest in script development and system automation programming.
    o Experience in any of the following languages: bash, ksh, sh, Python, Perl, and PowerShell, C, C++, Java
    o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Network Protocols
    o Strong understanding of the IPv4 and IPv6 network technologies and related protocols.
    o Familiarity with OSPF and BGPv4 routing protocols as well as inter-protocol route redistribution.
    o Understanding of DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and other supporting network protocols.
    o Understanding of layer2 virtualization techniques and designs.
  • Beneficial

    

  • Application Familiarity
    o Experience with Puppet/Chef or similar configuration automation frameworks.
    o Prior use of system level clustering frameworks including but not limited to Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms (TSAMP) and Linux-HA.
    o Experience with Commvault Simpana V11.
    o Knowledge and familiarity with UNIX operating systems including SLES, FreeBSD, and RHEL/Centos.
  • Network Knowledge
    o Familiarity with Fibre Channel fabric design and operation.
    o Experience with Cisco MDS Fabric switches and storage protocols.
    o Experience with various Cisco platforms including NX-OS, IOS, and FX-OS.
    o Knowledge of layer3 virtualization techniques and approaches.
    o Experience with Meraki network infrastructure.
  • Virtualization
    o Familiarity with VMware and other similar virtualization platforms including Xen and PowerVM.
    o Understanding of the interaction/integration points between virtualization systems and connected networks.
